This book could have been more useful had it address the printing industry and POD. Very little is known about how artist should prepare for POD. With this method of printing books of all kinds it would be nice to know what are some of the submissions standards for artist and illustrators preparing work for the book market. The information from site like Create Space, Spark, Ingram, etc. only gives vague descriptions until you sign up to print a book.

I purchased this book to help me learn about digital art and illustration. It has been enormously helpful, especially as relates to the use of Photoshop and layers. In this regard it is very comprehensive. It is easy to read and follow, and the instructions are comprehensible, even for a beginner, like me.The only thing lacking, for my needs, was information about Corel Painter. It seems that many artists also use this program, and some reference to it would have been helpful to me. Having said that, I do understand that that there is only so much material that can be covered in a manageable sized book. Overall, I am very glad that I purchased it, and plan to use it to help in my work frequently.

I dig this book. I renewed it as many times as possible from my local library until someone else put a hold on it. I finally decided to get my own copy. The book is in great shape and it provides me with random little tutorials and instructions on photoshop techniques.

Great Book that all digital artist should have in their stack!

This book is a great start and guide for anyone. It goes over everything you need to know about being a digital artist and ways how to use the tools. I wish my school would have let us use this book instead of the class-rooms in a book. This goes into much more depth about techniques and how to use them in everyday work. I would tell anyone starting out in digital artistry to give this book a read, you will not be disappointed.

I'm reading this on my Kindle. Every day I read a short chapter and look for ways to incorporate this advice into my life. I like that he doesn't go into too much detail. He provides the footnotes if you care to follow up and probably has written or is writing a full explanation of all of it!

Covers every area of lifestyle that one should pay attention to for optimal health. Quotes from the latest studies on each topic. Each chapter is short, filled with excellent advice based on evidence-based medicine, and ends with references to the studies for further review. This is a quick read, but a powerful one.

I did a lot of research about nutrition, then I found this book where the work was all done for me. It is refreshing to find a doctor that wants us to get healthy through whole foods and proper exercise and avoid all the medications and all their side effects. The change in diet is easier than you think and becomes a lifestyle. Wholefoods are very tasty, especially when you eliminate the sugar. Everything else taste better after the sugar has is avoided.. I've got a sweet tooth and get chocolate cravings, but after being on a whole food diet, I don't get those cravings. I think this should be taught in schools. A good foundation can last a lifetime.I do have a spurge day once in a while, but get right back to healthy foods and am happy to do it. This book makes it easier. It is more of a pamphlet, so it's a quick read.

I recommend this book for anyone looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Talks about many alternatives to chose from in food choices..

First of the ABCD set of Guided Science Readers and appropriate for beginning readers. The A readers are very simple ideas about nature/animals but the words aren't so simple, so instead of a lot of two or three letter words, the child is taught to read only a few four or five letter words right from the beginning in repetition style (which is fine so not to intimidate a new reader who is reading more than simple words right from the beginning.) Pictures above words are clear photos and appropriate and match the words. Would recommend for a reader who knows the alphabet and a few shorter Pre K - Kindergarten sight words and some sounds that some letters make (phonics). The A readers are eight pages long and good for children's small hands (5 and 1/2" by 5 and 1/2" or 14cm by 14cm), but again not to intimidate and remain approachable and enjoyable while encouraging. Covers are card stock and pages are glossy and are about as thick as typing paper and the edges are sewn, nice touch. These will last through several readings and can be stored in the matching sturdy cardboard box. Animal reward stickers and an activity book are included which further encourage learning and very early reading comprehension skills! Bought the remaining three sets after buying the A reader. Recommend for any child who is learning how to read!

These books were very helpful in moving my 6 year old kindergartener daughter from Level C to Level D, as well as helping her twin brother advance from Level D to Level E. The books are small 8 page readers, somewhat engaging stories, and follow a pattern of repetition (which some parents complain about) but I think it actually helped them learn to recognize words. These are the same readers they use in school (NYC) and amazon had them for what I consider was a good price. I bought another set of Level D, I previously bought Level C, and I have moved onto buying Level E&F which should take us through the summer until first grade starts.

Not a good tool for teaching sight words. When children are learning sight words there are a set of specific words they start off learning. Words such as “like”, “I”, “see”, “the”. These particular books do not utilize many of the beginner words and instead jump into other words like “hello” and “love”. Since I didn’t see much info on this book set I took a chance and regret it.

Im a teacher and a mom and I bought these for my 5 year old son In preschool. He looooves these books and is learning how to read because of them. Highly recommend.

It is really difficult to find leveled books on Amazon that match the alphabet system we use in Northern California. These books fit the bill perfectly! I especially like that they are non-fiction which is even more difficult to find. Reading them boosted my son's confidence in reading. A great little buy.

While these books are super adorable and great at the A B level, I do not see a significant progression of difficulty getting into B,C, and the Guided Science Readers. They are terribly short (again, great for A&B, but they should become longer and more difficult) For the price I feel a little short changed.

My 5 year old loved these books, she's really into science. I liked that they were the "letter reading level" which is what is used at her school, and can be difficult to find. It motivated her to read over the 2015 summer vacation.

I spent many evenings over the past several months reading a couple speeches at a time. This is a book to be read slowly, not in one or two sittings. Read it slowly and carefully, and take in the 500 years of disaster, both intended and unintended, that Native Americans have experienced in the face of colonization and ethnic cleansing. For those interested in Native voices in response to such sickening, unmitigated power, I can't think of a better way to spend $5.00 than on this great Dover thrift edition collection edited by Bob Blaisdell.

I have kept this on my Kindle because I keep going back and forth between a few of my native history books a family history and this book and sometimes I go to one of the other because of what was stated in one of the speeches it helps narrow down my research in certain eras. I refer to it on several occasions because of what was said by these great people is very helpful for us today. Good good.

I love the Dover Thrift Editions - they are so affordable and comprise truly great classics of literature. I have been slowly collecting the series and "Great Speeches by Native Americans" is one of my favorites in the series. It contains about 82 speeches that cover approximately five centuries of history of the encounters between Native Americans and non-indigenous peoples.The collection of speeches here range from emotionally stirring speeches by great leaders of the Native Americans such as Red Cloud's "The Great Spirit Made Us Both" in 1870 and Sitting Bull's "The Life My People Want is a Life of Freedom" in 1882, to lesser known orators and even unnamed ones. Each speech is preceded by the context in which it was given, which provides valuable historical insight in and of itself.This is a must-read volume that will provide insights into the Native American culture and history. It should also be required reading in schools.

A very well constructed chronology of the violence and brutality that was perpetrated upon the First Nations in the creation of the US. The entire shameful atrocity can really be summed up by Sitting Bull's observation that "the love of possessions is a disease in them." Read the rest of "Behold, my friends, the spring has come" and tell me if this great leader didn't foresee into the very heart of the corporate country that was to blossom in the 20th century. Account after account of generosity met with deceit, honor and courage repaid with butchery, and moderation overwhelmed by greed.I am reminded of Russel Means' statement that we are all on the reservation now. See what awaits you...unless you can muster the defiance of a Black Hawk or Tecumseh.

This collection of speeches was good from the perspective of what the native Americans wanted. That was only to be left to their lands and not encroached upon by settlers. In only a few instances was this varied from. The book gives good insight but the eloquence of speech and vocabulary bring to question the accuracy of the transcription.

Gave this as a gift and the person loved it. Very good speeches and is a good collection. i did not give it 5 stars because it is printed on cheap paper.

Buy this book. It's kind of sad reading through the speeches knowing that through the passage of time, the misunderstanding across cultures, stupid prejudices, and dumb mistakes by all, these peoples have been largely "rubbed out". It's ennobling because it exposes the reader to the remarkable beauty of Native American thought.

ALL politicians should read this book and of course others also. It amazes mewe called the Native Americans 'savages.' Reading these speeches one is amazed at the eloquence and depth of character presented. These men had heart, soul, spiritual awareness. I read once these people were right brain dominated as opposed to our Western, left brain dominance. This becomes clear with every speech. Their connection to Mother Earth very real. Their understanding of the environment real.It is shameful what we did to these people.Why we don't have a few on our cabinet I'll never know. Read these speeches and then you'll know what kind of leader you must vote for in the future.

I thought I'd write a short review if this book in case there's anyone whose not familiar with previous similar books on other artists.This 695 page tome (not including Index, Bibliography, Glossary) will be familiar to those who own the Dylan or Beatles books with the same premise. Beginning with "Come On" from 1963 up through "Bigger Bang" from 2005, all the official tunes the band recorded are here. Info for those not familiar with either of the above books includes composer, release date, musicians, studio, record label and number. Plus there's an essay for every song that helps put the music into perspective plus period photos.Included is a Forward, an essay on how the band came together, a piece on Ian Stewart ("the sixth Stone"), and a piece on Andrew Loog Oldham. Plus there's a Glossary, a much needed Index, and a Bibliography. The book is full of both color and b&w photos, some of which will be familiar while others less so. And it's many of the period photos that really add even more depth to the text, helping to give a better picture (no pun intended) of any particular song/year. The albums themselves are also represented by short essays (including short sidebars "For Stones Addicts") that also add more depth to the music, including the "Stone Age: The Album That Should Never Have Been Released!", or two pages on the guitars (check out Richard's beautiful Gibson Les Paul in full color) used by Richards and Jones for the "Beggar's Banquet sessions among other details.Like other similar books, is all the information complete and correct? It depends on how deep you go into the book's information. In an undertaking such as this there will be errors. But overall this is a good book to use when you want info on a specific tune or to simply crack it open for a scan of the band's music. Bottom line--if you're a Stones fan this is an informative (and fun) look at the band's music from across their long history. Open this book to virtually any song and you will more than likely learn something you didn't know plus a look at some great photos.

I finally received my copy today. It is pretty cool. There are many pictures and the personnel and recording dates and studios are given for the tracks. However, some are followed by a "?" if there is some question about the information included.The songs are arranged by singles and albums rather than strictly by recording dates. Doom and Gloom and One More Shot are listed with Grrrr! for example.Most listings contain both Genesis and Production sections for the songs. There are also 2 asides called "In Your Headphones" and "For Stones Addicts" that are included for some songs. The 'In Your Headphones" listings point out certain sections of the songs to be aware of while listening with headphones while the "For Stones Addicts" sections contain interesting historical tidbits about certain songs.This being said there are some songs that are not included. For example the IBC demos that were included with the Super Deluxe Version of Grrrr! are not included. There are also no separate listings for the tracks on Super Deluxe Editions of Exile on Main St. and Some Girls even though they are mentioned in the text. However since Plundered My Soul and No Spare Parts were issued as singles, they have separate listings as does So Young since it was originally released as cd single only track. The studio track Little Baby from the Stripped album also does not appear. Under The Radar one of bonus songs from A Bigger Bang is not listed as an example.The live version of Little Queenie is mentioned from Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out and has it's own listing (the only song from Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out) and but Corina from No Security does not. The live version of Let It Rock from Leeds 1971 is listed but Crackin' Up and Mannish Boy from Love You Live are not. The entries are somewhat inconsistent with the live releases as some live releases do not have entries at all. There is no entry for Stripped at all. Video releases are also nowhere to be found.There are also no entries for outtakes.This is an great addition to your Rolling Stones library but not totally definitive. I would still hold on to your copies of Martin Elliott's - The Rolling Stones The Complete Recording Sessions and Felix Aeppli's The Rolling Stones - The Ultimate Guide.

The work is very good, but perhaps a bit dated. As a work, it is lengthy with useful biographical essays, but less useful places to see, many of these well outside the city in the Bay Area. The illustrations are all B & W. The conversational tone is good. A newer alternative is Chronicles of Old San Francisco of the Museyon Guides by Gael Chandler, with color illustrations, prose as lively, differing details that seem as interesting and with perhaps a better flow. Both books have a few tours, those in this work relegate to a later section where they are easier to find and unlike the few tours of the work here, and of an accompanying volume by Mr. Richards, the tours have handy thumbprint photos to help you find your way along the tour.

Good ,clear exposition of people and events that created San Francisco.I wasn't that interested in the tour guide, but for a first-time visitor, it would be excellent.

The book is a great, interesting read. The information is condensed, clear and flows easily- however the book would really really benefit by including a map of the MODERN city, this way a reader can see exactly where some of the things the book discusses took place.
